Dear Doctor:

Thank you for all your help.

It is interesting and instructive to write a research paper. I learnt a lot from it, such as how to cite and how to find out articles for your paper. What's more, I also find that the one-child policy should be canceled immediately which I believe is both safe for people and the country.

In your class, I begin to find out China's economic growth is getting down, which I won't believe before. All the statistical data can prove that it's true. So it will be exceedingly difficult for graduates to find a job.

I have to learn some trade skills for unexpected things.

With your help, I am contacting with an U.S.'s startup company (https://careers.ngfplanner.com/) to gain an internship position for the purpose of having more work experiences. Surprisingly, with the help of resume writing and the entire strict format rules, that company's HR is extremely interested at me and contacted me last day evening. We will have an interview when I get back to Beijing. What's more, I contacted a technology manager in Baidu who I have met a couple of times, he agreed to recommend me to have an internship in Baidu this summer vacation.

I appreciate the time you took to teach and educate me. I am very interested in your course and look forward to taking your course again.

Regards,

Jason Yan

Reflections for the first essay

Hi, Doctor
I'm Grace from VAO. After writing the first essay, I have many reflections. I never thought about my future life after college before I wrote this essay, but now I have a plan for my future. During my research about employment of graduates, I found that it is so hard to get a job. Thus, I decided to make myself master more knowledge and experience during the last 2 years of my college life. It is not only for getting a good job, but also to make myself adapt to the society.

Subject: The feeling after writing the essay
3/28/12

Hello Dr.:

This is Lora. After writing the essay, I think I have gained much knowledge. Because I have already learned more about the present economic situation and I think we have to gain more skills so that we are able to find a good job in the future. Through searching the Internet, I have learned more about the three skills that to be a nurse, to be a kindergarten teacher and to be a cook. I think I will learn about them in the holiday and I believe it will help me to find a good job. Maybe the skills will not be used in the processing of finding a job, but I think they will help me in many aspects in my daily life. So thanks for your guidance in our study and I will work hard about my study.

Dear Doctor,

At the first term of my university, our instructor told us that we should set up a clear goal and work for it. Otherwise, we’ll achieve nothing. I didn’t agree it at that time because I thought life is full of happenstance out of your control or we may find the goals we set are not we really like. So I prefer to concentrate on present things to pursue perfect and then choose my career based on real situation. But from your lessons, from the research paper, the resume and the interview questions, I begin to understand the importance of clear goals. Only I have a specific aim will I know what knowledge I need to learn, what characteristic I need to form and what experience I need to accumulate. For example, thanks to your research paper assignment, I realize that People’s Bank of China is my ideal workplace after comparing many companies and organizations entangled. I also found that two-year work experience in macro-economic department is demanded. Therefore, I can avoid missing the job opportunity because of my ignorance of requirements. I’ll study finance and management in my spare time to get the priority of job. So I feel really lucky to stay in your class to prepare for my career.

Another thing is that your analysis about world situation is what I most interest. I adore your critical thinking about the world and the insightful views about economics. For me, get deep information from normal life is enjoyable.

All in all, the useful knowledge and your personal charm ( I haven’t figure out the exact personality that make me respect you so much, maybe the rational thinking or professional mind) make this class enjoyable. To be honest, you’re the most strict teacher I ever met, but I didn’t quit the class like some students when we can drop it. I have already foreseen the challenge and knowledge will help me a lot and it’s exactly right.

Sincerely,
Smile.

Dear Doctor Mata:

Thank you for your excellent English writing class that taught me a lot!

Through the class, I realized many significant things for my future job. For a job in companies, what is far more important than the degree is the personality, my working experience and my skills; for a professor in universities, teaching is as important as your research ability. These really surprised me very much.

On the other hand, I learnt to search information broadly and carefully in both English and Chinese websites so that I can get a great deal of useful information in the future.

Last but also important, your strict class really amend my ways in many aspects and let me know that any detail is significant, not only as a student but also as a man!

Sincerely,

Dear Doctor,

I'm Hsin-Yi from your English Writing class in Tues afternoon.

Time through by, I'm really appreciate that I can be your student in ZJU. You are my first foreign teacher in my life time and I have never taken a full English class before this class. I really got a lot from your class, not only writing skills but life experiences. You taught us how to structure our essay and how to develop the thoughts we had. You taught us how to do a research paper and applied it into a practical situation we all will encounter in the near future. You taught us how to prepare the resume, interview questions and cover letter. All of them are very useful for pursuing jobs and realizing what is the real world. However, I’m kind of not sure what job I will really go for it in my future time, but those assignments provoked me to start thinking my future deeply and take it for more serious. I feel the responsibility strongly and I never felt it before. I know you did all of this for our own good and I really appreciate it. Exchange life is short and it is just going to end. What I know is I will take all memories and all I learn from you and this class to my following future. Thank you for your teaching and guidance.

Dear Dr. Jorge Mata Professor,

I am Ju-Chan, Lin who is a student in your Writing Course on Tuesday. How have you been? Hope everything goes fine with you always. With time flying, I will leave here on 21th to Beijing till 30th then go back to Taiwan. Time push me to leave here along. It's hard to say goodbye. Day after day, my friends is starting to give me some letters, leaving presents, even invited me to meals for leaving, complicated feeling comes out... ! I know that I am not an outstanding student of yours, but you are the most respectable teacher to me in my eyes. I always feel so regret that I didn't learn English well when I was doing assignments you gave to us. Whatever chaos reigned outside, we knew we'd find order, justice and chance to learn inside your classroom and tolerance and excitement. I learned a lot under your instruction and I am fully grateful to you. Although I had faced with various difficulties when I write the research and essay, I try my best and I do really learn how to structure , logical even broaden my horizon. Especially, I find my position of jobs can develop widely in the future. Meanwhile, the career which I wanted most is too difficult to meet the requirement. Last, You are really a knowledgeable mentor and have great teaching skills. I always mention about you with my family that how lucky I am to be your student!

Moreover, Taiwan is a wonderful country , people are very passionate and friendly. If there is a chance, that the Taiwan would welcome you and you will love Taiwan. J

Dear Doctor,

I'm Swift and my Chinese name is Wei. I am in the Tuesday class (3:55-5:30p.m.) of your English writing course. Thank you for the English writing class during the last four months. Thank you for your strictness because it's your strict requirements and great expectation that inspire me to work hard.

I really need to work hard because in the near future, I am also going to earn my own life, support my own family and help support the big society. It's you who keep warning us that the economy situation is going down and urging us to be responsible for ourselves. I didn't think the situation to be that bad until I began to do the research and felt surprised and a little bit disappointed that it's so hard to find a job and meet the requirements of the employers.

I appreciate it that you can talk with us about your own life which really makes me feel inspired to try more things and keep fighting. I also like your American-humour because this really make me feel relaxed and free during the class though some of my peers may not understand that kind of humour well and felt puzzled. I want to thank you, above all, for the scrupulous homework correcting and all the details that you highlighted both in the class and in my homework.

During the next three years in Zhejiang University, I think every time when I need to do a paper, I will recall your requirements in my mind. Several years later, when I step into the big society and really plan to write a real resume (as you pronounced "JianLi" in Chinese) or a cover letter, I think I will immediately recall a lovely teacher who came in the classroom wearing old leather gloves and a new cowboy-hat and said, ''Hi, hi, hi...".

Thank you again for all your guide and wish you happy life in China.

All The Best,
Swift/Wei

Dear Doctor,

Last time when you mention that we can send a thanking note to the interviewer, I think about you. I am really sorry that this email should be sent on New Year's Day but my computer can't get access to the internet at that time.

I was once confused when I was a freshman, worrying about my future. What can I do when I graduate? Especially I am a girl majoring in mathematics and it is difficult to find a job with maths major in China. However, your lesson provides me with a opportunity to consider this question. When doing a research on my future career, I begin to broaden my horizons and try to figure out my true interest. It is undeniable that what you teach and your assignments are of great benefits to us.

Though most of us may agree that you are strict and tough, there is no doubt you are doing all these for the sake of our future. Maybe at the beginning we are not adapt to your teaching, because other teachers in the university don't emphasize too much our study. On the contrary, you are so careful and serious, and your attitude has make a deep impression on us. How grateful we are to encounter you. Perhaps our lessons will end soon but we still wish what you are always happy and healthy. We won't forget you and your lessons in our college life.

Sincerely,
Jordan

Dear Dr.Mata:

I am student Minyue in your writing class. I want to thank you for not only teaching us on how we should do to pursure for a job, but also what attitude we should have doing things.

At first,I didn't think I need to know things like how to write resumes now when I still have a long time in school. I thought I would know that when I need to find a job. However, when you told us what preparations you had done to apply for the job, I found that it's the attitude toward things that I have to change. As you have told us for many times, in our procession of finding a job, such as interview. we need to show our initiative in finding this job. With this initiative, we need to do everything we can to increase the opportunity of getting the job. What you had taught us to do, the research paper, the resume, the interview questions, the cover letter and especially what problems we may face while asking for jobs are all detailed steps to increase that chance and that is truly I would never learn from college. Also from that research paper writing, I should know from now what I am lacking of and make those requirements up when I am in school. The thing is a kind of initiative attitude we should have finding jobs and that will make a great difference between someone who didn't make these preparations.

It is until now that I realised how my lacking-of-initiative attitude would ruin me. When I have something unclear, I seldom ask to make it clear and always asume I know what to do. It is your high demand for us and my poor behavior that let me understand that it's my duty to make my matters clear with active attitudes and I need to be serious doing things. I especially appreciate you for letting me realize the potential harm that this disadvantage would cost me by telling us what would happen in the real work because although my parents had pointed out my lack of initiative problems, I didn't take it seriously. I can't estimate how much your class have benefited me, but I will remember it by trying to change my problem and live with a highly initiative attitude from now on.

Yours sincerely

Minyue Yang

Dear Doctor :

Happy New Year to you ~ I’m Crystal, a student of the English Writing class in Tuesday afternoon. I am so glad to attend your class for a semester, in which I have learned a large quantity of practical knowledge that can be used in later life and career. I truly appreciate the effort you have made for the course.

At the very beginning, we were all afraid of you, a teacher who dressed in rock types. We are not allowed to use cellphones, to laugh, to be late, to talk with each other, to stare at somewhere when the teacher is talking......It is almost the toughest two hours in a week. However, with time passing by, we gradually know that, actually, you are an easy-going person, who are more than a teacher. To me, you are a friend who smiles to us in front of the school’s supermarket, an enterprise manager who tells us where to pay attention in the interview, or even a mentor who gives us instructions in how to make a resume.

You are so strict with us in writing essays, which reflects your precise work ethic. We are told never to “assume” that something is right. In other words, everything must be proved instead of guess. We are supposed to mention where the information from seriously to make our essays argumentative. Now I have the ability to search for the needed information skillfully to make my essays credible.

Great significance is attached to every tiny detail in Doctor’s class. We should keep the paper clean and neat, so that we are able to leave a good impression to people. Sending an e-mail to the interviewer to show your thanks is thought to be a polite behavior. As is known to us all, the words “I’ll take your points off” urges us never quit until everything is perfect.

In addition, writing the research paper makes me clear that how competitive the society is. I am supposed to make the blueprint, take advantage of the summer and winter holiday appropriately and catch every opportunity to sell the benefit of myself. Making the weaknesses positive is a useful skill in our job seeking period. I am grateful that I have learned so much knowledge that can never be told by textbooks.

Thank you again for everything you have done. Your kind assistance on this course is very much appreciated. I hope that we can keep in contact and be friends after the course finished. At any time, your comments and advice are welcome. Look forward to your feedbacks and suggestions soon.

With my best wishes for you and your family.

Sincerely yours,

Crystal Chueng

Dr. Mata:

Since I will continue with my master degree in US soon, the English Writing course is extra-useful for me personally. In my university career for almost 4 years, I have hardly ever learn about analyzing, researching and writing in English in such a systematic and professional way. Most of the English courses I have taken focused on basic things such as vocabularies but ignored the practical application. If I didn't take this course, I guess I would encounter with lots of problems in the future. In the English Writing course, the most important thing I learned is how to work on a English research paper. There are many similarities between researching with English and Chinese, however, there are critical differences. Training through working on this research paper not only give me precious experience but also urge me to schedule my future career, which is probably more important than the former advantage.

Besides, I learned about how to write a resume and how to prepare for the interviewing questions, which is of great use for a student who will be confronted with the problem of employment.

In a word, this course is quite different from the other courses I used to take. This course surely do good to me in a direct and apparent way. As a consequence, I will surely remember this course many years later.

Thank you for all the things you taught me, Dr. Mata.

Yours sincerely,

YU

I'm Dai Jing/ Jean from English writing class (Tuesday, 3:50P.M.-5:30P.M.).

I'm very grateful to you for teaching me so many practical strategies. It's true that no other teachers have taught this kind of strategies. Especially when you mentioned how to reply to the interview questions last class, I found your suggestions were so important to me. Actually, I was considering going to universities in Hong Kong before I finally decided to enter Zhejiang University. I participated in a few interviews, but unfortunately, they all ended with my failure. I was disappointed, but it was my fault because I didn't make full preparation. To be honest, I also had no idea about the questions they might ask. It would have been much better if I had listened to your lectures before I went to those interviews. I did lose some opportunities, but thanks to your classes, I can make preparation to seize the future opportunities.

Happy New Year!!

Nowadays, the lectures in Chinese University are so weak that we students can sleep in class, play truant, don't pay attention to our teachers, and most of the students take these features to their company and society. You wake me up! I enjoy your class sincerely. Zhejiang University needs you, and great thanks for you.

Dear Doctor,

Hello, Doctor, I'm your English Writing class student, Zhilin/Ray, on Tue. 15:55pm-17:30pm. After a semester's class, I believe I do learn a lot from you, from the economic condition of the world right now and what I should do to prepare for my future. Your famous saying" Don't assume anything" "Initiative" impress me a lot indeed, and I think I will remember it for the last of my life. Although you are really very serious and strict comparing with most of the teachers in our university, and the time I spent on your class is even more than many classes that have more credit than 3 points, I think it's worth it. I'm a student majoring in mathematics, and I believe I have genius in mathematics indeed, so before taking your course I dreamed of becoming a mathematics researcher, and I really enjoy being with mathematics in my daily life. However, now I realize that things don't go so well as I imagine, what if I fail to win a good chance to study in famous university's mathematics department in the world? I hate relaying on parents, and I think I have duty to raise them since I'm 20 right now. Thank you for reminding me the cruel fact. I won't give up chasing my dream to be a mathematician, since I really have intuition for that field, but just as you tell me, I will have a back up, preparing for the unknown future. You are a very good teacher, if I had enough time in this semester I think I would enjoy your course more. Once again thank you for what you have done for me! Hope you can be happy everyday!

Dear Doctor Mata:

Writing the trade skill assignment made me think about my core competitiveness when I'm finding a job. As my major is International trade, if I can master some capability related to international trade, i can easily win in the competition. I learned that it is very necessary for me to learn a trade skill as a backup. I plan to learn Korean, accounting and nursing as my trade skill and I plan to complete two of them before I graduate. I never thought about what can i do if the economy is going down and give myself a backup before I write this essay, now, I begin to think about it and I realized how severe the situation is. My plan is to learn Korean and accounting in my spare time and get through the exam to get my certificate. I'm sure I can do it!

Sincerely

许敏慧 Xu Minhui (Mica)

Dear Dr. Mata:

I have gained much more things from essay 1.

1. It reminds me other things I can do except for my subject.

2. I learned how to make a long term plan and how to prepare for it.

3. It advised me I need to learn more skills to improve my competitive and make up back plan.

4. I will do it from this summer.

5. Working for others is no future especially in China, there are a limit profit. Make use of my college skills and trade skill will be adjective.

I have work in electronic factory, it is boring. I should learn more skill to save myself from the force of operatives.

Dear Doctor,
After writing this essay, I thought a lot about graduation. Over the past few years China's economic situation is bad, there are many graduates can't find work every year. As a student at level three university, I will face more difficult when I find employment with degree only. So I should make a backup plan for my life. This essay give me much help, because I didn't think my life deeply before.

Hi Dr:

I'm QiQi. To be honest, I never think about my career after I graduate, from this research paper, I realize one thing, always have a backup plan. A degree doesn't have too much value now, it's necessary to get a trade skill. Now the economic situation is serious, I really need to plan my future from now on. I'm considering to become a health-care assistant, my parents are both doctors. We have discussed about this, they will help when I graduate. Hope everything will get better in the future.

Sincerely,
QiQi

Hi, Doctor:

I'm Bella. This is my point of these three trade skills.  After finishing this trade skills essay, I know about more information about China economy situation. And I think, when I graduate university in 2014, the China economy may change with the time goes by. So, I only want to study my first trade skill, that is website design. In case this technology will develop forward quickly in 2014, I will learn the basic knowledge of this skill in summer 2012. Also, I will have three degrees when I graduate. I will feel more confident for interviews and I can get more opportunities for finding a job. Hence, these three skills mean a lot for me.

Dr.

YU

Sincerely,
Smile.

Especially I am a girl majoring in mathematics and it is difficult to find a job with math major in China.

The things up is a kind of initiative attitude we should have finding jobs and that will make a great difference between someone who didn't make these preparations.

It is until now that I realised how my lacking-of-initiative attitude would ruin me. When I have something unclear, I seldom ask to make it clear and always assume I know what to do.

Happy New Year to you ~

I’m Crystal, a student of the English Writing class in Tuesday afternoon.

Dear Doctor:

On this first day of 2013, I want to say happy New Year and express my thanks to your teaching this semester!

I was so lucky that the University gave me this opportunity to be a member of your class. And I think I have learned a lot from your course, such as how to finish a research paper and how to make resume more professional.

You are different from many other teachers in Zhejiang University. You are so strict in class but such kind when out of the classroom. I know your strict demands are all good for us and I think the notes taken on your class would help me now and in the future.

I thank again for your good teaching and your strict but kind demands!

The first word I want to type down is "Thank you". I have been thinking expressing my gratitude since I attended your English Writing class.

In the class, I learned something really new and important. Not only did I learned the basic rules of writing an argumentative article or research paper, but also how should I get prepared for my career life.

Job research paper, personal CV and interview's questions may not be taught in other classes. The preparation I am making now is not only physical but also psychological.

As a Chinese catch phrase saying goes:" Only hard teachers produce excellent students." Other students may not understand your strictness, but I do appreciate it.

Thank you for your sense of responsibility and generosity for guiding us toward the real society.

Really looking forward to next English Writing class on 8th January!

You told us what the real society is, and give us your good experience. The most important is that I get much more than just the 2 points of this class. I think you are like our mentor not just teacher, every class I can really learn new things. Nowadays, the lectures in Chinese University are so weak that we students can sleep in class, play truant, don't pay attention to our teachers, and most of the students take these features to their company and society. You wake me up! I enjoy your class sincerely. Zhejiang University needs you, and great thanks for you.

Dear Doctor:

First, thank you very much for your replies to my questions last time.

Second, I would like to express my gratitude for your classes. What you taught me really helped me a lot to face the world more confidently and prepared, especially in this fiercer and fiercer competitive world.

You particularly value the conduct of handing in neat and clean papers, which I find very influential in my life. You told us to get prepared for the jobs, asked us to do research on our future possible jobs, taught us how to write a resume, and gave general guidelines about our future job interviews.

Before taking your classes, I only had a general idea about my future job and hadn’t realized the employment situation clearly. Now, I have done a series of deep thought about my future career path and am determined to complete some tasks in chasing my dream. You lend me a hand when I am innocent and know little about the outside world. I really appreciate what you have done for us.

At last, I want to thank you again for the wonderful classes you taught.

May you a Happy New Year!

Dear Doctor Mata,

I'm Xiaolin, and I'm writing to express my gratitude to your teaching of this semester. Thank you for teaching us things we need to learn.

When I chose this course, my roommate said"You never raise your hand to answer or ask questions in any course. But this class is English Conversation, and you must talk with others, so this course will be very difficult for you." But I just want to have a try, try to improve my Oral English. Now, it seems that it’s not successful. I still have no courage to raise my hand, because I’m afraid of making mistakes. But, in this class, for the first time I gave a speech in front of the whole class. And compared with the presentations in the past, this time I did not lower my head and not just stare at the computer screen. In this class, I learned that it doesn’t matter to make mistakes when you speak, and the understanding of each other is more important than perfect grammar and pronunciation.

And in this class, I clearly learned about the types of movie and speech. My classmates gave many good topics. Some of them are controversial and profound. The topic about old historical buildings urges people to balance the relation between historical buildings and urbanization process. And the topic about nuclear power leads to the think about economic development and the right of life and health. All these hot topics contribute to my dialectical thinking and broaden my horizons.

This class is the first step on the way of getting over my non-confidence on speaking English, though it’s not such successful. I still learned a lot. Thank you for your teaching again!

Best wishes!
Student, Xiaolin

Dear Dr.Mata,

Good evening~I'm Shanshan.I do appreciate your fantastic course and have a great time during the whole semester. Frankly speaking, we hardly get a chance to communicate in english. People are always too shy to say something you know. I really treasure this course and make strides with my oral english.
What's more, besides the speaking skills, it leave my a good habit of thinking and let my enjoy the real class. The speeches and your comments broaden my horizon significantly, getting me to think and learn futher about the social issues, like politics, laws and gun things in America, etc. In addition, you are the most responsible and charming teacher i've ever met during my college time:) I strongly support the rules you set in class of which several students think as conservative.
I accidently found a person complain about that on BBS and most of the reponses are critisisms. I felt pretty much relief, haha. Such guys are spoiled. Whatever they say, i'm on your side firmly~
BTY, would you mind giving some suggestions concerning my speech, pronounciation or anything else? In the future, i plan to apply for the finance master degree in NUS(singapore) or MIT if possible. What's your opinion? i'd appreciate it very much~
Do thank you and wish you a good time here =w= looking forward to your reply~

Subject: a thank- you note
Date: Tue, 6 Nov 2012 23:39:56 +0800

Dr Mata

Thank you for your difference and basic requirements! I will always remember the phrases “to the point” “it is a conversation class”.

It is the first time that I write the formal thank-you note, so there might be some mistakes, I’m sorry about that..

This morningit was almost the last Oral English lesson I have this semester, and I was thinking the question you gave to us last time that “What is going on here?”. I just recalled and remembered that I began to ask questions spontaneously, and learned to pick a topic or make choices not for my own opinion, which was quite different from my previous mindset. At the same, the others’ questions told me how to think in different direction or try to think opposite.

Secondly, I want to mention is that the basic requirements. That may be confusing for you I guess, but I want to emphasis it. When I was in high school, the teachers there just told us we should study hard so we can go to the university where we can relax ourselves and do anything we want. Thus, after entering the university I just became lazier than before since it seems that almost everyone around me was not fighting for his or her dream, they were just here to experience the time and finish tasks but learn nothing. I might misunderstand this situation in some way, but I do think so. But to tell the truth, this oral English class is the first class in the university that I was focusing on with all my attention and all the time. But it took a lot of energy, and the following class would be rather tired for me. However, I learn to focus on one thing at one time.

When I mention the basic requirements, I want to describe it as the strict rules since no teachers should require us something for there are too many students. But afterwards, I changed it. These rules are told when I was in primary school, but I didn’t obey it since others around me didn’t either. I might follow others in other things if I didn’t experience this special class. I guess I will learn to judge the principals and chase for my original dream firmly. To be a different person, and learn technical skills.

The third is “to the point”

While picking up the topics or asking the questions, we just attempt to express what we are thinking and there may be no conclusions in the end. But the repeating “ to the point” just kept us to think twice before we express it or it taught me to figure out the important aspects of the thins. So I put the basic four points in the first paragraph——different mindset , basic requirements , to the point and conversation. There’s no need to mention everything, but this thank you note is different, I want to express the thanks that I do learn something with specific samples that covered too much.

Lastly “it is a conversation class”

This sentence taught me two things. One is how to be a good speaker, the other is how to be a good listener. The former just urges me to perform actively in the silent “New College English IV”class. The latter taught me to think others’ mindset not just the sentence itself, their ideas are different from mine, and it helps to perfect the topics anyway.

Thanks will be the best expression in the end, and I just recommend this lesson to my friends, I think they will learn something more than I have mentioned above.

Hope you will be happier in the near future since many students are out to spread what you have taught .

Best wishes for you! O(

Hello, Doctor:

This is Xu Yue. It’s my first time to send an e-mail to you in this semester. I really want to say something about the class.

First, I’d like to say: Thank you, Doctor! Thanks for your instructions, for all the things you taught us. You make me pay more attention to some details when I am in the position of a listener or a speaker. If there is a chance for me to make a speech again, I will not only remember to get the speech well prepared, but also to dress well, make more eye contact with the audience and take notice of feedbacks.

Then I want to say sorry. I am sorry that I missed 4 classes in this semester. :p But during that time, our team have won a good prize! Any effort has its reward, not only in volleyball, but also in learning English. So I will make more efforts to learn English, just as what I have done in playing volleyball.

Although I usually feel nervous about making mistakes when I speak English, I don’t wanna be silent again. I will make great efforts to be more confident. There is still a long way to go, but I will keep walking! :)

With my good wishes!
Xu Yue

I was once confused when I was a freshman, worrying about my future. What can I do when I graduate?

Dr.

You taught us how to prepare the resume, interview questions and cover letter. All of them are very useful for pursuing jobs and realizing what is the real world. However, I’m kind of not sure what job I will really go for it in my future time, but those assignments provoked me to start thinking my future deeply and take it for more serious. I feel the responsibility strongly and I never felt it before. I know you did all of this for our own good and I really appreciate it. Exchange life is short and it is just going to end. What I know is I will take all memories and all I learn from you and this class to my following future. Thank you for your teaching and guidance.

Best Regards,

Hsin-Yi/Amy

Sincerely,
Jianshu Li/Victor

Negociación Martes/Jueves.

10/02/2015

7. Also in the video presentation of the 10 trading rules learned that we should never take the first offer, gift or surprise with the other negotiator, not to negotiate but to first analyze and give my opinion on other offer.

8. The video presentation of the four sales strategies in this presentation learned that we must analyze customer needs and this helped me to after I graduated and have a job the first thing is to analyze the needs of customers.

9. With the product of negotiation to discuss four topics such as culture, product, price, and logistics, this project helped me interested to know what forms to negotiate with countries that are what you should do is, this will help me to keep an eye on future business.

12. From the project of oil to Japan, this project helped me because here we analyze that oil is the main product of Ecuador but now has dropped the price of oil per barrel.

13. Coffee France, in France the money or exchange is the Euro which is equivalent to $ 1.36 and that coffee aroma is best for export, whether the topic was of great interest because exhibitor’s topic they knew the subject and left no doubt.

14. China's gold country, this was interesting because I learned new things for example that China had bought gold mine Ecuador and has to give a certain percentage for Ecuador.

15. Oil exports make sea and that makes it a FLOPEC of Ecuador in if company everything I learned in class negotiation is quality, and were new things.

Testimonials for Learning a Trade Skill as a Backup to a University Degree from Sias University Students:

Hi Dr:

Hello, Doctor. I am Darcy, I took your Public Speech class this semester at 3:55-5:00pm every Thursday. I think I have learned a lot from your class.

The first thing I would like to talk about is about a change of role. From two speeches, I think I if I want to make a good speech, I cannot perform like a college teacher talking on the stage, just talking and then finishing a speech, students listening or not . However, I must be like a good salesman and try to catch the hearts of my classmates. Body language, gestures as well as facial expressions are very important to a good speech . Besides , I also need to make a clear Powerpoint and prepare a logical and attractive speech. Most students at Zhejiang University are preeminent in their hometown, we take good opportunities and good offers after graduation for granted. But after your class, I think I have a lot to do to make myself more competitive in the future job market and learn to be warmer and more persuasive with others.

Secondly, one thing you told us impressed my deeply, that is we cannot ask others to do something we don't do ourselves. Most Chinese teachers teaching speech only focus on speech skills and English fluent, weather you really do that is negligible. So we are likely to make up a interesting stories for a high grades. Frankly speaking ,if I make up a fake stories for my speech, I cannot make it impressive nor add my real emotion or feeling to it. The society will be much better if all the people stop requiring others to do thing they don't do or they are unable to do.

Last but the most important thing I learned is listening. I used to be self-centered and not want to listen to others opinions . In your class , I find out that listening can teach me a lot and I understand why I have one mouth and two ears. If I didn't listen to the speeches of my classmates, I could not know their pros and cons , and I could not avoid their mistakes and try to make my speech better. I can learn a lot from my teachers, friends, classmates and my future colleagues.

Thank you for all I learned from your class.

Best wishes

All the best

Swift/Wei

Subject: Thank you letter

What you had tought us to do, the research paper, the resume, the interview questions, the cover letter and especially what problems we may face while asking for jobs are all detailed steps to increase that chance and that is truely I would never learn from college. Also from that research paper writing, I should know from now what I am lacking of and make those requirements up when I am in school. The things up is a kind of initiative attitude we should have finding jobs and that will make a great difference between someone who didn't make these preparations.

It is until now that I realised how my lacking-of-initiative attitude would ruin me.

Happy New Year to you ~

I’m Crystal, a student of the English Writing class in Tuesday afternoon.

Subject: Thankyou Letter for the English Writng Course by Yu
Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2013 00:14:48 +0800

Dr.

YU

Dear Doctor:

Sincerely,

Dai Jing

Esteemed Doctor:

On this first day of 2013, I want to say happy New Year and express my thanks to your teaching this semester!

I was so lucky that the University gave me this opportunity to be a member of your class. And I think I have learned a lot from your course, such as how to finish a research paper and how to make resume more professional.

You are different from many other teachers in Zhejiang University. You are so strict in class but such kind when out of the classroom. I know your strict demands are all good for us and I think the notes taken on your class would help me now and in the future.

I thank again for your good teaching and your strict but kind demands!

Sincerely,

Dear Doctor:
Firstly Merry Christmas! And I think there is no doubt that you give us a extremely useful and meaningful class which is completely different from others.

Best regards,
Jesse

Your sense of RESPONSIBILITY impressed me a lot, and somewhat you show me a path to be a REAL MAN. These things are very essential for me and I believe it will change my life.
Here is a little advice. Maybe you can give us a class called ENGLISH SURVEY. I have spent a really happy time doing that(in the English Conversation class). And I think your wonderful skills at analysis and your rigorous attitude towards things CAN teach us something different.
Wish you have a wonderful year. Merry Christmas~

He told me he has just succeeded in dropping this class so it will not leave any bad record on his academic report. I have found a good tutor for him and he is practising English with this tutor. They are getting along quite well now.
Thank you very much for your advice about this student.

Yours sincerely,

Xu Yue

Hope you will be happier in the near future since many students are out to spread what you have taught .Best wishes for you! O(_)OFrom Lili (T/ Th )

those questions and opinions in class were viewpoints of Chinese student.

Those topics, opinions are really interesting to me that i never know before when i was in Taiwan.

The things you and other classmates said in class really make me thinks a lot,and i start to know how to think "independently".

After this class,i learn more about something in China and America,it's really a nice class in my exchange life.
